THE ANDALUSIAN JOURNEY
LA CARTUJA MONASTERY - XV CENTURY
In the heart of the Andalusian culture, our home is the XV century - La Cartuja Monastery, a Moorish settlement since the 13th century, served as a Jerónimo monastery for 50 years, and as a Carthusian monastery for another 400 years.
It was left abandoned and later in ruins, and it has been preserved and restored for 3 decades. A National Monument, today it is a cultural center, open to the public for visits and as an event venue with a Guest House. There are 4 architectural styles and the site offers immense beauty with ambiances to contemplate nature and self-discovery. We will be carried away by creativity and inspiration in a magical and peaceful environment full of history.
At the monastery reigns peace and silence with water from a spring, pure air and 10 hectares of mixed forest. In addition to the natural surroundings and the astonishing architecture, the accommodation is cozy with original rooms of the Carthusian monks and beautiful natural panoramic views.
RIVER VALLEY - RIBERA DEL HUEZNAR
The river valley of the HUEZNAR has a tranquil river, waterfalls and cascades with abundant crystalline waters, as well as green and freshness, added to a rich local scent and the river beach of San Nicolas del Puerto. Hiking is available along the Greenway VIA VERDE - 18 kms of pedestrian trail. Ascending to the river and the waterfall one can find a rich variety of fauna with species such as the aquatic blackbird, the kingfisher, the goshawk, the gray heron or the trout.
CORDOBA
The south of Spain is intensely rich and multicultural. Córdoba has been praised as one of the most cultured capitals of Europe where Jews, Muslims and Christians harmoniously lived together. A center where philosophers, scientists, artists and scholars came together, where pillars of knowledge were forged and with still unknown origins. The Cordovans have preserved a rich atmosphere of art and culture.
Even today the Cordova culture has the soul of a philosopher and known as a birthplace of artists. “La Mezquita” is breathtaking and is one of the most exceptional monuments in the world with labyrinth made of more than 850 columns of granite, jasper and marble that continues to bewitch visitors. A visit to Córdoba and its province holds many surprises, just as self-discovery does.
SEVILLA
The capital city of Andalusia, chosen by Lonely Planet as the “Best in Travel 2018”, is a cultural patrimony and a city dreamed by any traveler. The city boasts an exceptional historical and artistic heritage, full of pintoresques streets. For the past decade, Seville has been transformed into a sustainable human sizable city, eager to revitalize its artistic past and monuments. The metamorphosis has not gone unnoticed and that is why Lonely Planet has placed it this year at number one among the cities that nobody should stop visiting in 2018.
Of all the artistic epochs of Seville, Baroque stands out, perhaps because it merges with our way of seeing life. And two Sevillian painters excel in that special way of looking at reality: Velázquez and Murillo. Without a doubt, Bartolomé Esteban Murillo is one of the most universal Sevillian painters in the history of art. And this year, Seville commemorates the 400th anniversary of his birth. An extraordinary opportunity to get to know Murillo's footprint in the city and enjoy a wide range of activities.
“The spaces, lights and faces of the masterpieces Velásquez seem to revive while you walk through Seville.”
Here you will be able to witness history, while you will be part of a modern city that evolves under a human and innovative model. A hospitable city that encourages you to enjoy culture, and arts with its authentic quality of life that inspires self-discovery.
2018 is an exciting year for Seville: the celebration of the 400th anniversary of painter Esteban Murillo, the world’s most important Flamenco Bienal, and the European Film Awards.
FLAMENCO
"Casa de la Memoria" is the Cultural Center located in the heart of the historic center of Seville, where we will enjoy the most traditional flamenco show that explores the roots of flamenco and its history.
Flamenco is an artistic expression born of the mixture of many cultures: Arab, Jewish, gypsies (who came to Spain in the fifteenth century), and the Andalusian culture. Flamenco emerged from this rich melting pot which developed, and over time, has spread, becoming a universal artistic manifestation.
